MCH-6204?? All my research and records indicate starter MCH-6107 was used with hydramatic from 1951 thru 1954.

Alex you are partly correct. That MCH 6107 was used on the '51 with hydramatic. Starting in 1952 the MCH 6204 was used on the 232,262 and 308 hydramatics up to 54. Hollander lists them as interchangeable, so either would work on hydramatics 51-54.
  • Checked mine out after I finally found it - it spins good but drive wont kick out , Im sure it needs torn down and cleaned up

Just to add to the mix.. I have a 54 308 hydramatic with 12 volts.. Using a Jet starter..Been working for three years. Smaller, but a bolt on. It was put in while I rebuilt the original starter. Thought I would see how long it lasts..still ticking.

I'm not surprised - Chrysler Corp. used 6 volt starters with 12 volt systems for a number of years. You can always tell when you hear one - sounds like the starter is going to take off and outrun the car.
