Meets in 2010 - where should I go for my 1st HET meet?

As many of you already know, I bought my very first Hudson this fall (52 Hornet, Twin-H, Sedan).THANK YOU RUSSELL! It runs well now and will run and look better by spring. You can read about it here http://52hornet.blogspot.com/ I want to drive it to a HET show, but am wondering when and where my first HET show should be. Any suggestions? Most likely I will only be able to make one, maybe two shows in 2010. I live in Byron MN, (55920) and would be willing to drive 8-10 hours for a great HET show. I am looking forward to hearing your thoughts. Thanks!

By the way, this post was prompted by the agony of having to see the Hudson just sitting in my garage every time I leave the house, knowing I can not take it out into the salty snow.

Congratulation on your new Hudson. Looking forward to hear more about your progress in 2010. I'm not familiar with the Hudson shows in your area, however, your might also consider other non Hudson shows. That would help expose the Huson to others. Probably, you will be the main attraction at a non Hudson show. I didn't know there was a HET club until I meet a Hudson member. I wish I had become a member 40 years earlier. Great people to be with.

Merry Christmas and a happy new year.

  • I agree with the need to show off the Hudson to non Hudson folks. I plan to go to "Back to the 50s" and other local shows/drivins but want to make at least one HET regional or HET National. The questions are, which one, when and where :)

The Central Regional meet is going to be in Rockford ,Ill. This will probably be a large regional because of the International being in Spokane. The Midwest is really concentrated with Hudsons! I don't really know where bryon is but it will be worth the drive> and winter will be over in 3-4 months-Think Spring!!!!!

Have double the fun and participate in both your Reginal and the National in Spokan, Wa. You live about 500 miles closer to Spokan than we do in southern california. It's over 1900 miles from my home. There are even some 200 miles south of us that will be there. We would like to see you there.

Then there is the National in Oklahoma 2011. The WTN list many meets, local, reginal, and nationals. We hope to make it to the Pigeon Forge meet in Tn. in 2011. It's the people that make the meets a wonderful experience.

Perhaps, we can meet at some future meet. Hope you can make it to Spokan.

Do some checking around - I think Old Cars Weekly has a car show (in Wisconsin??). At least they used to.

Join your local area chapter (in your area it's the North Central) - I'll send you contact info by PM) and find out what's going on. Or, if you join the NW chapter - host your own meet. It's not a hard thing to do.

You can also go to www.oldcarsweekly.com , scroll down to "Upcoming Shows and Auctions" then click on Car Show Calendar and check the area's around you.

(By the way that car show in Iola, where Old Cars Weekly is published, is listed under Wisconsin - along with a bunch of others.)

    Michael-

If you had to pick one long distance show, pick the National in Spokane, you will not regret it. Also, all your local informal cruise-ins are a great place to show off your car, and I assure you, you won't be able to stop answering questions from admirers the whole time you are there.
  • Definately make as many local car shows as possible as well as any HET chapter meets along with the regional and National meets. BUT, don't forget about the later meets also. Oct 28-31 in Pigeon Forge Tn. Great folks, great times, More fun than should be legal......

the 2010 central regional is closer to you if you want to attend a bigger Hudosn meet. It's near Rockford IL I believe. Not sure what the MN chapter has going on.

Awesome, Rockford is less than an hour from my house. Is it at the fairgrounds?
