I have seen, twice now, a 1953 Hornet Coupe on Hwy 96 between Franklin and Murfreesboro, TN. This car is super fine. Anyone know the owner?

Comments

  • Possibly the car shown? If so, Bill and Corky Cox car.
  • Close, but not the car. The body is more the lime green with a dark green roof.
  • Could be. Looked like Hornet trim but I could be wrong. Mark, are you out there?
  • Nope, it wasn't me. The Wasp hasn't been cranked in a while.

Y'all have me curious too, we need more Hudsonites closer to home!

More like "out of the mist greens of time. . ."

They're all green, ya know- We already established that, some time back. :D

Best "mystery Hudson" sighting I've had was probably 10 years ago- very nondescript stepdown sedan ('48 or '49, I think) going down Interstate 5 near Centralia, WA- puttin' out a little blue smoke, broken front spring made it high on one back corner, headliner hanging in the back, just a real clapped out example- I expected to see some middle age guy with a smile, actually driving his "barn find" home.

I pulled alongside, and it was like I was transported back to the '50's. Skinny guy, mid 20's, in a white T shirt and a desperate look on his face. Haggard wife, also skinny, stringy dishwater blond hair, dirty dress, holding a crying baby, couple of other kids in the back (standing behind the front seat, holding the "rope"- remember?).

They looked like they had just come out of Appalachia. Wish I could have learned the story on that deal.

My Oldest daughter lives in Franklin and met this man at her hair-do place. They somehow got to talking cars as he'd mentioned he'd recently been to the Detroit . She mentioned my living in Michigan said he'd been to Hudson show so they were off and running. He had her call me and later sent me a picture of his Hornet at the meet. He had someone doing some finish work on it in Michigan. He picked it up and went to the meet and drove it home. He lives in Franklin and my daughter says he got excited when she told him I had been there as well. Seems he kinda likes his car. It's 2 tone green coupe, Dark over lignt. His name is "Gene McCrickary". (least that what it looks like)He didn't send his phone #, but the card he put his name on is from the hairdo place. He went home and got the picture and had my daughter send it. He'd told her he'd had other high end cars, but is in love with his Hornet. If ya can't get a listing for him, his hairdo lady is Jane Chandler 615-370-7041ext. 204 Brentwood, Tn..

I hope this helps to find him, kinda fun to put folk together.

    Let us know it goes,

    Kim
  • I'll followup and let y'all know what I find out. Car is a beauty.

No Russell, it was not me. Hudson is parked till March and then it will be anywhere in the USA. I'm driving the sedan around here and making meets in this area. The sedan was finished in 1992 and drove it to the National in Waterbury, CT. Route 80 to 84, then to Florida, route 95 to 4, then to San Diego, route 10 to 78, then to San Francisco route one. Put 13 thousand miles to break it in. Today it has 27 thousand miles as the coupe gets all the mileage which now shows 129.000 in 11 years. Walt.
