Looking for the super long handle oil dip stick for the 308 before I get the machine shop to lenghen mine. Anyone? Cliff Minard < min1909@pa.net>

    In the event that someone has some dip stick parts with part numbers attached...

    The dip stick part number you are looking for is 310458. The extended tube is 300865. and the number for the extension guide is 310456. Not sure what the extension guide is..

    Not sure, either, Dave, but extension guide could be tube that fits into the block for longer dipstick.

    If I had to guess, I would say the extension guide was used on cars that were being retrofitted to power brakes and already had the short dip stick tube installed. JMWAG. or..maybe it was the piece that wraps around the long tube and bolts to the block? dunno...:confused:

    I used a copper tube with a tab soldered on it to hold the top part steady. Bolted to one of the holes for the oil filter. Just forced the copper into the stock dip stick tube with a touch of RTV to seal it. I used a GM dip stick from a 350 Hydramatic.I shortened the GM stick so it would not hit bottom! (It's very long.) After changing oil and knowing the proper oil level, filed a small notch in it to use as a reference. Makes life a lot easier.:D
