    wonder if that was Herb Malone's old Italia? It had had a Chevy V8 installed into it by the Hudson dealer in S. F. when new & we found a good Jet engine for him but he liked the added performance & never installed it & this one seemingly comes with a Jet engine.

    Well . . . what are the odds that there were 2 Italias with V-8's in them? Not to be a smart-ass, but I'd bet money they are one and the same.

    Here's a photo of Malone's car I took at a show in LA 18-20 years ago. I'm not smart enuff to tell if it's the same car, but it seems likely. :cool:

    I read a short while ago that Herb now had two Italias, and at the time showed pictures of both under a car port. At that time, both were complete and in one piece. I can't believe that one of the cars would have been dismantled in this short a time, and be in that kind of shape.

    I'd rather think this car could be here in Ohio, as I knew of the location of one many years ago that was owned by a then club member who was a shop teacher, and he took the car to the school shop and put the students on the job of getting it ready to restore - this included stripping the paint, but I'm not sure about the interior at that time. I believe this car also had a Chevy 283 V8 installed, and he had rounded up a Hudson 202 to put it back to original.

    In the meantime, the owner seemed to have lost interest in the project. He also had a '50 or '51 Pacemaker convertable that was going to be "cleaned up". The Pacemaker was not in need of a complete restoration at that time. I've since lost tract of both cars and the former member of the club

    If Hyman's not a current member, he doesn't get an ad. I'll take care of that. The only person I've ever heard of who owns two Italias is Fred Roth of Thousand Oaks, California. He has a restored one that he's shown at Pebble Beach and a "driver" that is basically enrestored. :cool:

    Just got an email from 'Roger' - He appears to be 'fishing' for a price on the car.

    Have replied, asking -

    - Where is the car located;

    - What the serial number is;

    - Does he have a valid title for the car;

    Don't know if he will answer, but doesn't hurt to ask.

    Just a WAG, but I would hazard to guess that he's got this on consignment to sell for someone (?)...

    Eddie Pock had an Italia with the AMC 327 V8.

    You know, I thought that as soon as I opened my mouth about more than one Italia having a V8 in it, I very well could be wrong. You'd think I'd know better by now that Hudson eccentricities and oddities are way more common than one would imagine. I should have just kept my mouth shut . . .er, fingers closed . . . either (or both).

    Would be a great car for Jaye Leno to pick up, he would do a very nice job on it and no expense would be spared

    I'm afraid to hear what this went for. A few years ago a guy I knew was selling a basket case 1957 Cadillac Eldorado Barritz convert. with factory dual quads. He said he wanted me to make him an offer. I knew I couldn't afford it and I didn't want to offend him so I never made an offer. About a month later he told me it sold for $1,500 buck! :eek::mad: DOH!

    Haha.:D I'm sure the Italia went for good money. But, ya never know.:)

    When I was in high school, noticed the cutest '50 Ford coupe in the church parking lot one Sunday- black paint that you could use as a mirror. It didn't have a For Sale sign, and I didn't want to pester the little old lady who owned it.

    Saw it at the local garage, totalled, a couple weeks later. Turns out she had sold it to the village idiot for $150, and he promptly wrapped it around a power pole.

    Just got word from 'Roger Nickell' -

    "I am sorry to tell you this, but the car is already spoken for.

    Thank you for your interest."

    Anyone here on the Forum buy it? Would be nice to hear that a HET Club member picked it up...

    Wonder if Mark Hyman bought it.

    Sorry about that Sam. Guess I got my California members mixed up in my mind! Age will do that to a guy, you know.

    This is a picture of Robert Mackey taken in the summer of 1965 at a meet held by my parents, Richard and Ruth Royer, in New Enterprise, Pa. He was from New York State.

    At the time the car was in very good shape, all original, including the engine.

    A friend in Seattle called Roger to inquire about the Italia. He did find out that it is car #20. Roger has talked to a few people who are very interested in purchasing the car, but from the sounds of it he is waiting for Mr. Big Bucks to express an interest in it. Why not shoot for the moon when you have something that rare (I think it is appropriate to use "rare" in this circumstance. If not please correct me)

    Yup, this means that there is still one Italia unaccounted-for, right?

    Seems like I remember someone posting the list of Italia serial numbers, and where they are- maybe a good time to post that again?

    How old is that list? It's not exactly accurate at this time. Is there a more up to date list?

    I think Ed has the X-161 now.

    The ex-Mendoza car is still hidden in San Jose where Carl had it stored at the time of his death - owner has probably lien-saled it to himself by now in lieu of rent owed.

    Stories I've heard is the Mendoza car had a Chevrolet V-8.
