Hole in sump

I bought this early 262 motor recently for parts for my 54 Wasp motor. The motor was found submerged in water as you can tell by the rusty flywheel, sump holes and only half of the rear engine mounting plate. Half of the crankshaft flange is also rusted away. Had to drill a few sump bolts to remove the sump. Yet the crank turns, and everything inside the motor looks good. Timing chain and valves look OK. I was expecting to find it rusty & siezed inside. You never can tell. Anyone got any other good luck stories? Regards, Barry

Wow, now that is an impressive metal story. Try that with the metals being used today in the bottom of these new engines. A good story to remember when I go to look for more rusty parts. Thanks, Bob0
