I would imagine an upholstery shop could direct you to a source or sell you some .. However, i found a sheet product at Lowe's that has an aluminum on one side and hardboard on the other, is moisture proof, doen't warp and accepts staples and glue.. Probably as close to the same thickness as the original as you will find. I suppose Home depot or other builders suppy outlets have the same insulating board..4x8 sheets are cheap too.

I also just called it "upholstery board". The thing is some of it you can buy is not as waterproof (or more accurately water-resistant) and will wrinkle up if it comes in contact with moisture unless you paint it with a coating of clear poly urethane. It depends on the grade of the stuff. You also need a good industrial grade sewing machine (I have a sewing machine designed for sewing boat sails.) to go through it....or do it by hand in a time consuming manner. You can purchase it at upholstery supply houses....the places that supply materials wholesale to upholstery shops.

Don't go to craft stores those are horrible places to look for such things and usually over-priced. There's a narrow chance certain hardware stores might have it.
