    Brousing through some old post and came across this one of yours.



    Great Hudson pictures from down under. I don't know how I missed it. Yes I do. It was before I found this forum.



    There are so many pictures of older cars, I could almost be persuaded, nobody downunders buys new cars. Ha.



    For the Metro group, there are alot of them down there. There is what looks like a Meto mounted on top of a snowmobile, "The Metro Sled" custom built, 700cc yamaha triple. There was another one that looks like it has been converted into a boat out in the water. Yet, another was a Metro stationwagon.

    That site was originally Hudson Essex Terraplane Ramber only until somebody else found the site and added brand X cars to it, I wish they had not done that, but what can one say. Yes we have a large number of early HET cars in Australia, but in saying that the Kiwis have a lot more early ones than we have here as they were still driving them as every days cars well into the 80's and beyond, Australia is much more advanced than the Kiwi's LOL. Have you checked out our web site.

    I'll check it out. It looked like, on the previous one I could spend all day looking at all the neat cars. Only looked for about an hour. Between the two I may have a weeks worth of enjoyment.

    I typed in hudson-amc.org.au and the front page came up. But when I tried to search any further my computor froze. Tried twice. Each time I had to shut down my computor to get out.



    Any idea whats happening?

    Lee, just type in hudson amc and see what happens, we have had great responce from people accessing the site with no problems, let me know how you go..



    Hudson 308, not all our cars are RHD, we have stolen a few from you guys over the years and we leave them LHD, I have had my LHD '42 Brougham for 21 years come July and I sold my late brothers LHD '46 coupe a couple of years ago to another club member, I purchased the coupe from my sister-in-law after he passed away and kept it for about 12 years.

    Nice sets of wheels over there and plenty of convertables which I just love, maybe 1 day I might own one



    we have so much old stuff here because we want to drive something different than the normal go blow



    you didnt answer my question on what it costs to register a vechicle over there and weither you get any dicount for being vintage



    My mum, always moaning that things are always going up there ,she has lived over there for the last 15 years and we keep trying to encourage her to come home and watch her grand children grow up

    but she still wants my dad and he wont have a bar of it, so she stays there, she has a couple houses over here so all she has to do is kick out the tenants and sell her 1 there

    If you GOOGLE concessional registration queensland & follow the links it shows you what is required. The cost is $175 & if fully reg. the cost would be over $800 for our 30 HUDSON.All states in OZ are different relating to requirement &cost.

    As you know it's always pick on a Kiwi week , depends on rugby league, rugby, cricket etc etc. I've had to put up with my old mate Geoff for years picking on poor old me, so I have to get back at you guys somehow.LOL



    In regards to registration on our vintage cars, the cost to put a car on conditional registration is $44.00 per year,which is less than a $1.00 a week on restricted use, but, fairly flexible, we can get a permit to move to go for repairs, we can do weddings, school formals and film documentary as long as no money is involved. Insurance is also very good with the NRMA our motoring body here in NSW, say $250.00 for 50k cover, you keep the wreck if in an accident, free towing to home if you have a break down as long as your are 100k from your garage, so we are more than happy.

    Yes Bob remember meeting you both here and over there, I had my wife and sister -in-law in tow the whole meet.me getting food, you know a guy has to eat sometimes.

    I remember going "Down Under" in '87 (was my wife & I's 25th wedding anniversary trip) & we stopped at a place called "The Ferneries" or something like that, north of Sydney. While there an antique auto club came in for a meet and the last car was a great looking '28 Hudson roadster. I went over & talked with the guy.

    I didn't see any pics of it at that above website though but is was a beautifully restored one!

    Old Hudson, that car may have been Bob Powell's roadster, a beautiful restoration, was it Maroon and black . Now that may test your memory.



    Hudson308, you would be battling to find any old junk yards here in Australia these days with old tin in them mostly modern stuff, we are but a small country compared to yours.

    Huddy 42, that's not bad at all, just paid $152-00 NZ the other day which included 1 years rego, plates and a new warrant of fitness

    I spoke to my insurance company today and had to change from a under construction insurance to a full insurance with I ok'ed which is $1020-00 a year on a 150k, as soon as I hung up the phone my partner said to ring the AA and inquire about there vintage cover and they said all i would need to get is a valuation and they would charge $538-00 and it had to be garaged,

    both companies have a 5000km limit which I would be happy to get that in each year

    Iam waiting to run this years out and I will change to the AA 4 1/2 the price

    i think I have 3 months to go

    Yes my wife and I were at the National. We had an opportunity to talk with many from down under. We had a wonderful experience there. I missed out on the forum group get together. So we may have talked together somewhere else and didn't know it.



    My 47 Hudson PU is in non-op status until I get it running, then the license will be $93. The license requirement, fees and insurance are all different in each state in the U.S..

    I also missed the forum get together as we had a bus tour on that day, was bad timing as I would have loved to meet you guys in person, as you say, we may have spoken to each other, but who knows, there were so many people there and not enough time to chat with all, we had a ball and will remember that meet for many many years to come.
