Dreaming of Spring

I updated my Blog today - http://52hornet.blogspot.com

It is now mid February and today I backed the Hudson out of the garage to sweep it out. My wife's car has been depositing snow in the garage that slowly formed a pool of water that I could no longer ignore.

I now have the replacement glass for the drivers side window and rear passenger window along with all new window channel for all four windows. The glass guy came took a look at it in my garage and said he could do the work while it is in the upholstery shop. It is my hope to get it into the upholsterer in the next couple of weeks. I have enough money to start the upholstery and a perfect match for the vinyl. Lyle (the upholsterer) has a few places left to check for fabric, but I have a feeling we will have to settle for the near match from SMS. At this point we don't have any money for the brakes, wood grain metal, and engine work (exhaust gasket, oil leaks, etc. ). To try and drum up some cash for the car I am trying a side business, "Michael's Computer Services ". Wish me luck, it will all go into the Hudson.

  • A few more pictures. I think the car was happy to see the sun.
  • I love every part of this car.

Hudson 308, I don't know where the sun is at the moment, this is the middle of summer and we have had rain rain and nothing but rain, last Friday evening we had 3" of rain in one hour, flooded my garage where the Hudson is kept, no damage except the carpet got soaked.

That is one beautiful Hornet, we know now why you wanted it. How about interior before and after pics? Engine compartment? Trunk? Looks really good. Thanks for sharing the pics. Bob

Great looking car. I have been dreaming about spring this week as well. We do not have the snow packed roads that you have and I have had the car out once or twice. I got so excited about spring today that I went out and gathered seed pods from last years flowers so I could start them growing under my grow-light in the basement. We in Utah have our first show of the season in two weeks. Autorama visits us each year and this year we are doing a display for the "Doc Hudson" that is on tour with Autorama. Should be a fun winter break. And, yes it is an indoor show.....

Hudson 308, yes it was the garage carpet that got soaked not the '42 Brougham, if that had happened I would have had more than a headache believe me. 3" is just under 8cm.

Mate, nothing is too good for a Hudson to sit on eh.???

OMG!! That looks entirely too cold!
  • Pardon me but...."garage carpet"??...um...why?
  • VERY NICE RIDE , What Hud isn't ? about dreaming of Spring , the other day I had 3 cars parked in front of the garage, after the snow drifted it took me all day to find them with a shovel . The way our house/garage/and where we park the motor home is situated it all settles in there when the wind comes from the west . This is 30 mile north of Louisville, Ky, where we usually get very little snow except the last 2 weeks of March . BUD

When I lived in Maine we had a Lab retriever - we'd send him out in the morning to find the cars and dig them out for us. :D

Na, carpet is never a good idea--that is why I went with black and white tile....

I need to find a good way to cover my garage floor. When it gets wet and/or icy, the smooth concrete is an accident waiting to happen.
  • Use Tuff coating its chemical resistant and has bite to it for anti slip.

Try this on your floor.... I have the English Hudson in the other shop hooking up all the lights and gages so this is where it normally sits. The camo tarp on the floor is for trash to fall on while I work...
