Pressure brake bleeders

It seems like lately I've been working on brakes a lot. I have used the Motive pressure bleeders on european cars before, but never on a Hudson. Has anyone here used this (or similar) product ? Comments and/ or suggestions? It's on my wanted listed, with the adapters for 1 5/8 "American" cars.

I have used a different model brake pressure bleeder for decades with an adapter that screws into the top of the Hudson master cylinder. Works great and makes bleeding the brake system a one man operation.

When you finish bleeding all the air out, turn off the pressure valve. Then loosen the adaptor from the master cylinder before disconnecting the attaching hose. This releave the pressure in the hose to keep brake fluid from spraying everywhere. Believe it or not there are some mechanics that still disregard this advice and have to clean up the mess. I really hate hearing the term (I've alway done it that way) as if, that makes it ok.

    Have a good day. Lee

    P.S.

I do not mean remove the adapter before disconnecting hose, just releive the pressure then disconnect the hose. Then remove the adapter

I had one by the name of EIS.. a brand well known in brake circles. I had a fortune tied up in adapters for the various master cylinders. Loaned it to someone who just couldn't remember borrowing it..Grr. It was a sort of round, made in two halves. had a diaphram in the center, brake fluid was on top and the air pressure was applied to the bottom of the diaphram. Saved me many hours of work and truely a one man operation.

I have been casually watching but haven't seen another for sale. Even thought of building my own! It really got a workout when we were racing street stock and changed rear ends twice a week!

    SuperDave,

EIS is the model I have. Forgot to mentlion it. It holds 2 1/2 gallons of brake fluid. I always got the bleeder back but didn't always get all the adapters back, or one of the rubber gaskets would be missing.

Also, it is a good practice to bleed the brakes every year of two to reduce moisture buildup.

If I spot one for sale I will let you know. Once in awhile I see one for sale at the swap meets. What price range did you have in mine? If I find one in your price range and you would like me to get it and ship it, send me a PM.

    Lee,

After my last posting , I googled the darned thing and found one on Ebay.. Bought it.. with no adapters.LOL... I can make the ones I need as I need them. Just need to find the male quick disconnects that work, or change them over to the Air hose type. Yes you are right, brake fluid attracts moisture then causes lots of corosion in a brake system. most manuals tell you to flush the system on some schedule but nearly NO ONE does.

    faustmb,

Since you were satified with the Motive pressure bleeder on foreign cars, it should work as well on a Hudson as it did on a foreign car if the adaptor fits. I have not used that model but I have used similar units.

Since I did brakes for a living, the plastic bleeders just did not hold up as well as the EIS pressure bleeder. I have had the EIS Bleeder for over 40 years. But for occational use the Motive pressure bleeder should do ok as long as it does not leak. I do not like cleaning up the mess.

    SuperDave,

That didn't take long to get your bleeder. You spoiled my trip to the swap meets. He He.

Your making the adaptors reminded me of a time I had to modify one, to fit the Dodge Vans. Had to modify the adalpter so the fitting would come out at a right angle to be able to connect the hose to the adapter.

How much is an EIS pressure bleeder going for now?

    Have a good day. Lee
