What Kind of engine is this?

looks to be a Packard 320 or 352 2bbl V8 engine used in the 55 and 56 AMC full size Hudsons and Nashs.
thanks,

I thought too that it was a 320 or 352 but the valve covers on those engines were held on with two hold down studs that came up through the valve covers from the front and rear bolts that hold down the rocker arms i'm now at a loss for what it might be0

Paul,
You actually got it backwards. The AMC 250 and 327 used two central studs off the rocker arm stands to hold the valve covers down.
The Packard V8 used the bolt arrangement shown here.

Where there any custom modifications made by request...or a difference in the 56 hudsons with factory air? Because this is a Full Size 1956 Hudson with factory Air. The other issue I have with it is the fact that the transmission has a 20bolt pan cover...but everyone keeps telling me it should have 12 or 150

Awesome...how exactly do I narrow it down to one? Does any cheap product fit one, but not the other....for an easy answer? Or does the world still not work that easy....0

It has a packard ultramatic trans and the air cond. Compressor is standard compressor and bracket0

What Kind of starter does it use? I need a new solenoid....It takes two batteries to turn over, but once it's over....it's awesome! Just need that product number...i'm sure there's a contemporary replacement.0
