Wow, what a beauty! Note wire wheels, which were only fitted to r.h.d. export models.

That's a lot a bang for your buck especially if it only goes for 26k $AU

couldn't build it for that especially if the body is as good as it looks

Take a look at the auctioneers report espec re body & paintwork. Even so.........

The report states the paint poor.??? Clutch stuck, oil leaks, wrong steering wheel wrong rear tail light glass. Is this a ruskin body.?? Looks better than the report.????
  • Would like to see a better pic of windshield frame..It appears to be bolted to the body instead of made on. Wonder if it has roll up windows or curtins? Was this a Hudson built Roadster?

If that goes for $20-25,000 it's an astoundingly low price (U.S. Dollar seems to be the same value as Australian, or even less). It looks like a good restoration, this is a desirable year, and it's a unique body style (I don't think Hudson made roadsters in the U.S. in 1935, only convertibles with roll-up windows).

carguy - no, due to the expense of shipping entire cars just chassis were sent "Down Under" where they had their own "in house" body builders; I believe Ruskin was the biggest of them that's why it is a body style never offered here by Hudson.

Same was done in England (Brownie's sedan).

for instance there is a '34 Terra. 4 door conv. sedan, or phaeton, floating around the U.S. (was at Detroit '09 National) that was imported here from there .
  • Please consult "History of Hudson" by Don Butler

page 191, I think you will find the vehicle there.

    G'Day Bob,

That bumper was standard for all Hudson & Terraplane in New South Wales, Melbourne Victoria had a completely different bar to us.

a question for huddy/ what does it cost to have a car shipped to the states, what duties or taxes are paid does the ship go to port in l.a. or ?:)

Sorry, can not help you with that info, would be better to check from your end, I did ship a car from the USA back in 1989 to Australia and the shipping would not have been too bad if it were not for our greedy government with all their taxes and charges, it cost as much as it did to buy the car. Things may have changed but who knows.

This vehicle sold for $29,000 (Australian). I think the puchaser got a good buy!!
