On craigslist a rusty Hudson PU, with the cab roof cut off, went on sale for $950 last week. I quess it didn't sell so he raise the price to $2200. That's an interesting way of salesmanship. If at first you don't succeed raise the price. I'll have to try that sometime.

Some of the folks selling on Craig's List are loony tunes, some are great. I've dealt with both. :D

You know whats funny though, I list on Craigslist quite bit. If I list Free stuff, I have 50 takers but no one actually shows up. If I list the same thing for $20, I'll have 3 takers fighting to get here fastest. I don't list anything free anymore, because it's too much hassle. I guess people don't feel guilty about commiting for free stuff they don't pick up.

I guess the same might apply to cars. If you list it high it might eliminate some of the deadbeats to at least get a serious offer or interested party....

My nephew in CA put an old couch on the curb for free. Sat there a couple of days with no takers, so he put $20 on it and someone stole it that night, LOL That's our world!
  • A few years ago, I had a 'Parking Lot Sale' at my music store. I put a few old pianos and organs out for price leaders. One was an old Baldwin church organ that I priced at $19. It didn't sell at the sale and I didn't want to put it back in the store, so I left it outside, thinking someone would pick it up over night. After three nights outside, I changed the price to $1900. It was gone that night.
  • Matt - we'll look for the $1900 organ on PawnStars (LOL)!

I would've probably taken the $20 and left the couch.
