Just what everybody needs. LOL! How the H#%$ does he think you will be able to keep that engine cool enough to not seize up with that pathetic little radiator, and no fan? Also like that he has pedals, but left the minor problem of trying to figure out what kind of clutch to put in it to make it work. That 50 Gal fuel tank might hold enough gas so you could make it to the end of your driveway if you are lucky!0
-
those pictures are nine years old, I wonder what things look like now0
-
Isn't that a water-cooled engine? Why not put it back on a boat? Wonder if any of those landing craft even survive.0
-
This is built by the same guy that brought us the Grapes of Wrath Hudson. Stay tuned for the next exciting chapter in automotive slight of hand.0
-
I find these sorts of big engine vintage specials interesting, but I'm sure you could DIY and get to where this project is for a lot less than 60k.0
-
I think that Jay Leno owns one of these creations. interesting idea. Of course, if you're interested in fuel mileage, one of these things isn't for you. A Hudson is a Hudson in my opinion.0
-
Super - yes, guy's name is Gary Wales. I used to live a few blocks from him in Woodland Hills when he was promoting himself as the great guru in re older Bentleys & RRs.
He got caught trying to palm off some of his "creations" as legitimate factory specials as I recall, got sued, etc., etc. ala the "Grapes of Wrath" Hudson.0 -
Speaking of the Grapes of Wrath Hudson, how did it do in the Barrett Jackson auction? I never heard anything about it.0
-
The suposedly "Grapes of wrath" speedster brought a little over 40 thou. He probably had at least that much in labor and materials in it..
If any one is interested in one of these INVADER engines, I have an extra, in the crate. I would sell very reasonable. And yes there are several of the landing crafts that have survived. Some are in the Higgins museum in N.O. La.0 -
Yeah let me know when the engine is Cheap!
I just remembered my house is on a slab, I could display it in my living room!0 -
How come I didn't get the crook-genes? I really could've used some of those . . . betcha I'd be a hell of a lot richer if I were a crook . . .
sad part is, he'll probably sell it for at least close to what he's asking!0 -
OT,I know, but my neighbor has a large stash of new Allison engines...0

Two? OK got you covered there too. With the help of the Maytag Corp.
they were able to make this combination...
I had the good fortune to hitch a ride in a P-40 last Nov. that was nothing
short of spectacular. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=415808 Kermits place is a real "must see"
for Hudnuts if your ever in central Florida.0 -
YES!!! Two hooked together like that is what I need for my Essex.:D0

You do that, you might very well have the first flying Essex. Pretty sure you're going to have to beef up the suspension . . . . at least a little.:D0 -
RL Chilton wrote:You do that, you might very well have the first flying Essex.
Yep! Its just that easy. Build it,call it a factory special, and explain that its
how they came to be known as Essex Terraplane.;)
Make the big $$ and rewrite history at the same time!
Can you tell I'm being a little bit cynical ???:D0 -
I figured Kermit had to be the neighbor you were talking about, I recognized the back storage bldg. Neat guy eh?0
