Question-remove/reinstall rear springs
For detailing purposes I want to remove then reinstall the rear springs on my 54 Hornet. There is 56 years worth of muck back there. When reinstalling I am concerned about gettinga proper mating of the axel and spring so the car will track properly. Do the springs only reinstall one way, is their an alignment mark or what? I can't find any reference to this issue in my shop manual other than a brief line that says "when proper alignment is obtained . . . . .". How do you get that proper "proper alignment"?
Thanks,
Doug

There is an alignment pin that places (locates) the leaf springs. You will see it when you drop the spring assembly. It is located through the centerpoint of the "group". You might see it in center of the lower plate between the u-clamps if there isn't too much gunk.0

You will probably need to look at the rubber mounting pads at this time, as they are likely to be inpoor condition. Available from KGAP.0
