'16 center door sedan

Please take a look at this car, just put into eBay.

These are extremely rare, a true "hardtop" (pre-Hollywood, LOL), with removable body posts. You'll see the windows are lowered with leather straps. Alum. body (probably Biddle & Smart).

If I was into early Hudsons again I'd sure go after this one! I had a '17 mucho anos ago & they are really weird & interesting. I think this body style only offered for a few years as was expensive & rather awkward to ingress/egress.

    Pete, do you remember a letter in the WTN way back when it was an iddy-biddy little magazine, written by someone who went to an estate auction hoping to buy one of these things that had sat in a barn for decades? I'd say this was back in the early 70's. Turns out someone outbid him -- someone whose business it was to buy these things and then flip them for more money (though we didn't know the word "flip" back in those days).



    Hmmm....maybe it was you who wrote the letter.

    What was the "center door" car at the Nationals in Detroit? Was it the same as this one?

    Nope, the one that was in Pontiac last year was blue and is owned by Dick Riggs, from Portland, Oregon. The one on Ebay is green (although it's listed as burgundy?) and is located in Fairport, New York.

    right in re Riggs' being the one at Detroit, and yes Jon, I think I do remember writing an article about the one that had been in a garage in downtown L.A. since '42 when the widow's husband had put it up on blocks for the war & it had remained there for 30 years, + or -.

    To make a long sad story short, it was put up for auction by the County of L.A. after they seized her property & was bought by someone in El Paso - I have no idea of it's fate since then.

    It was in amazing original condition, with all it's original manuals & tools. The couple had bought it for their honeymoon vehicle, so when I visited the old lady & saw it, it had been in the same original owning family for approx. 60 years!

    might add that the husband had died during WW 2 & the wife had never learned to drive so was still up on blocks when I saw it.

    There is a gentleman here in Utah that has been looking for a "teenage" Hudson so I called him a few minutes ago. I think he might go after this one. Told me he was going to book a flight back to see the car this weekend. Who knows, I might get a close look at it?
