Hi All, have taken the plunge and booked the old girl into the upholsterers
It should be in there in the next couple of weeks, we are having a run down under in Auckland NZ for the HET club and I want to be there so am delaying a week so I can participate, its been a long time coming and its like dressing a fine lady for the rest of her life, its all going to be in a latte sort of color leather
the final design is yet to be sorted thought the rumble seat design is going to match the front seats and are going to take out the seat springs in the rumble seat and fully foam them, as way to bouncy with them in, I have done 90% of the custom timber work ready for Scott to start on putting on the leather
will keep you updated

The final steps are the most fun IMHO. Take lots of pics, we'll be waiting. Richie.0

Hang on to the Dickie Seat springs even if you don't use them yourself. Someone will want them & they are not made any longer. I'll give them a home if you've not got the room - there's the makings of a another 28 Coupe in the spares dept for when I get the urge!!0 -
This is gonna be fun to watch. I'm still discovering things that don't
belong in an Essex. These were behind/below the rumbleseat...
Left behind by previous tenants.:)0 -
here are some pics of the timber work, I have formed so far, the rear wall in 1 large removable panel, to make the upholstery easy to work with and not having lots of joints like the original
I made a new foot rest and set some ali 12 x12 bar inserts in to protect the timber work and some wooden coned speakers to go with the steering wheel
We are going to reshaped the seats so that the head rests sit lower into the rear of the seats, so the don't conflict with the sounds out of the speakers

Is this what you want Jeff
there is 1 of the bracket set up as well
hope it helps
I have made some drip trays to go on the end of the guttering out of st/steel
and will install once I do a little touch up to the paint work this should take most of the water from the guttering and there will be a big canvas or heavy plastic bag made to be fitted in behind the turtle deck to pick up most of the water that comes in from there
I put the scratches in the guttering as I had had raised head screws on the r/s
brackets and I have now changed to counter sunk heads, a trap for young (in mind) players its only the top 2 screws that matter:(

Hi All, a little update,
Finished off the drainer trays to the rumble seat area and fixed up the paint to this area, have paid for all the leather and carpet and extra sound proofing to quite the old girl down inside to the upholsterer, so shes off next week to get the final dress up, he thinks it will take 100 hours to complete her, just got to finalize the actual style, but pretty open to ideas from him.
Its so tight in there that I think we will be putting carpet around the bottom of the consul and doors to stop the foot marks on the leather, have ordered some lapel pins from the states from a 29 style radiator grill to insert into the custom scuff plates to go into the doorways as a little finishing detail, a pity, I couldn't find the 30-31 style to keep her year perfect but thems the breaks

On our 28 Essex Coupe the metal frame holding the springs, clips into to 3 holes in on the lid (LH side of photo) & is held in place with 3 small bolts at the bottom.0
