1930 Essex super six brakes

I'm full of questions it seems. One front wheel is off of my 30 Essex super Six, dirty as heck and the drum is nothing but grooves. Same with the shoes but they're not down into the rivets. What does one do for brake parts for these cars? The drums are thin to begin with, can they be turned? What are the options?

You can get modern bonded linings on your original shoes. any good brake shop should be able to do these for you. use a soft lining. They should also be able to advise you whether or not the drums can be truned. I have just done a '29 Hudson brakes, and the drums were only .100 thickness, so we left them as they were. When it comes to adjusting the brakes, you an't just fiddle with them, you have to go through the sequential adjustment procedure, too complicated to outline here.

Thanks Geoff. I saw the adjustment procedure in the Essex instruction manual. I'll check out a local place for re-lining or look online.
