What is a fair price?

I am looking again at buying WWW Radials because of my intention to put my family in the car for several hundred miles at a time on the interstate. The price is steep, but I hope to offset it some by selling the Bias-ply tires. They are about 3 years old, have 2-3 thousand miles on them, no staining, cracking, or checking. I have four on the car an one in the truck for a total of five.

Four new WWW tires are $800-$900. Would 1/2 the low end of 4 new tires be a decent price for 5 slightly used, something like $400? What is a fair asking price?

If I remember right, last time I looked at tires (October) someone here was interested. Feel free to remind me who you are :D

Michael, that was me. I just bought the tires for the Pacemaker so we just missed the connection. I believe you could get the $400 plus shipping for tires in this good of condition. I would put them on Ebay if you dont get any bites here. Doug
  • Michael,

I just bought a '53 with so-so radials, and would like to go back to bias ply. I'm just outside Madison WI, so I figure about $55 in gas, round trip. I'd be interested, if you could tell me a bit more. I saw the tires by clicking your link - are they 760x15 or 710x15? Width of whitewall? Brand?

  • I am happy to give you what ever information you need.

If you are interested we will have to discuss details. They are still on my car :o)
  • I forgot to say, CONGRATULATIONS on your purchase!
  • Thanks! It will be a long two to three weeks until I can scrape up the rest of the cash for the '53, but in the meantime at least I have 'visiting rights'. No worries on whenever you want to do the swap - the tires on the '53 are fine for now, and I could drive over most any weekend.
