You could check my Hudson repro parts page. http://mysite.verizon.net/detailed1/Repro_Table.pdf Looks like someone is making them (look under "Dashboard, Steering Wheel...." except that they're saying that they're made of hard rubber, but I thought these levers were chrome. Maybe I listed the hard rubber mistakenly....
By the way, if you're not yet a member of the H-E-T you might want to consider joining. Makes it a whole lot easier to find parts, information, others with the same type of car.... http://www.hetclub.org/0 -
Hey Jon B,
Just became a member - Local Chapter is SoCal. Needed to find a home. HET is it.
Copied your info from your site over a month ago. You are the Man!! Great Great Great!
The guy is listed for making repro steering wheel components is Ron Borkhuis. All contact has so far not been returned. Not sure what his status is.
Looking for whatever will replace broken levers and such in the 29 Hudson SS SS steering wheel. I've got 2 virtually complete columns both have broken levers. Both have the same unbroken level. Both also have trashed head light switches on the column engine side. None of the rings look like aluminum more like brittle bakelite. Aluminum would be alot better. Ron makeshis in hard rubber from the listing.
Is there an exploded steering wheel drawing or a "take it apart" tut?
The 26 Essex Shop and the 29 HUdson Parts list shows the parts but only with arrows the R&R is not clear from those pics. THis stuff is so fragile I want to be sure of what I'm doing. Breakage i not acceptable on stuff this old!
Any help always greately appreciated!
Thanks

I think you really need to contact a '29 owner (and one who actually has dirt under his nails -- not someone who has "their mechanic" work on the car!). Work up a list of questions, take your camera, tape measure, and sketch pad, and spend a morning in his garage. Most Hudson people like to "share" and you could take him and his wife out to dinner as a gesture of thanks.
There are no exploded views unless someone has made them lately!
Others have encountered your problem. They will have good answers for your questions. Grab your H-E-T roster when it arrives, and start looking for nearby '29 Super Six owners!0 -
Ok thank you sir0
