Bushing lubricant question

I am getting ready to install new bushings in the rear stabilizer. What is a good lubricant to use to help the process along?

Thanks,

Doug

    Doug,

I did mine this winter. A little WD-40 on the metal sleeve inside the (old) rubber bushing, then drove it out with a deep socket the same size. I cut out the old rubber, then scraped and brushed the bar clean. The new rubber pushed in easily without lubrication, then I pushed the metal sleeves back into place with the same deep socket. It was a lot easier than I thought it would be.

    Short answer: WD-40.

    R/ Roger.

I suggest RuGlyde, available from NAPA and others, as long as it can be bought in a reasonable quantity. It's a long-time favorite rubber lube in the automotive service world. Back when chassis lube jobs were routine, on every one we used to squirt RuGlyde on all the rubber suspension bushings underneath.
