Take a look at this ebay auction and someone explain to me why the opening bid is 2k am I missing something or is a photocopy of a sales manual, patches and key fob actually worth that much?

Damn!!!!! I'm rich!!! I'm rich!!!! I got one of them 1937 books - and I got a copy on-line. Time to flog it on ebay. Since I only have one or two of the patches I'll set the opening bid for $999.

Sure would help get me out of this financial mess I'm in right now.

Everybody take care - have a great laugh over those ebay items.

Same seller . . . probably not a typo. Just some airhead who thinks he's sitting on a gold mine, or hoping some village idiot happens along.

The first listing isn't even for an original manual, it's a new re-print that probably could be gotten from Faxson(sp?) for $49.99.

    Mines an original!!!!!!!!!!! :D:):D:)

Hey, I'm flexible. I'll offer it to the HET'er who wants it for only $500!!!! I mean, that sounds fair to me. Yeah, it's a little shop worn but it's still in reasonably good condition. If not HET takers maybe I will toss it on the bay for $1000. :D hehehehehe

Actually, from his username and location, he appears to me, to be "one of us". So, possibly he indeed hit the wrong key. I seriously doubt he believes the patches and book to be worth $2 grand!

Weel, there's a guy here with a '28 Essex generator on auction with a "Buy-it-now" price of $750. These guys are in cloud cuckoo land!
  • First one has been changed to $20, he's got several he needs to look at

A guy I met told me the OE generator from his 50 Pacemaker was worth at least $300 (rusty rebuiladable core).

He had the engine from said car listed for $2500, basically pulled from a junker. He was able to make it run by jumping the timing chain a tooth and spraying ether into the carb. The head was pulled and there was significant ridge wear at the top of each cylinder too...

Oh well, we'd all be rich I guess :)
  • Good I was thinking it must be a typo.
  • We need to ease up on this guy , and wish him a full recovery . That's PHIL REDEN . He had a brain hemorage in Sept. , has come a long way but still got some to go . He knows he's haveing trouble with numbers and the listing is wrong . At least he's not a quiter , he's determined to get back where he was . HANG IN THERE PHIL !! BUD

Well, that sure took the wind out of our sails! I see he has changed both now. I don't know the gentleman, but I also wish him well.

My dad used to say about outrageously priced items- "Anybody smart enough to have that much money is probably smart enough not to spend it on that."

Well, I certainly retract what I posted then. I also wish him well. I guess I jump the gun too often, as it seems that EB is often laden with . . . less than desirable business associates.
