Just got a call from an old HET friend asking what I thought the 1946-7 Hudson Eight Engine, Trans w/OD, rear axle and chassis might be worth. He has an extra he want to sell. It was formerly under his very well restored Commodore Eight Club Coupe' Body & sheet metal. His son had a similar car, and proceeded to modify his frame with a V8 engine and auto trans. Somehow talked his dad out of the restored body and sheet metal. The chassis was part of a running , driving car that had been to several Hudson gatherings over the past few years. Will appreciate input as to the value of the chassis, engine, trans/OD etc.

May 18, 2010: Just learned the package will also include an unrestored body & sheet metal of a '46 Commodore Coupe in fairly solid condition. This of course with increase the value considerably I would think

Sometimes you gotta put your foot down and tell your kids "no"! LOL

I dunno running chassis with all the gear (assuming it would still run) I might pay $500 - $1000 for it.

Big gamble all around. I realize that it was running with no problems when it was torn down; however, given that--I would expect that the comment of $500 is about right. I would not go over $700 and that would be if I had a use for it.
  • where would the parts be located?

I should have mentioned in my original post that the chassis is located near Lancaster OH - about 20 miles east of Columbus OH

Yes, it did run, and ran well!

    Jerry-

I agree with the above. Unless it's pristine, I think $1000 would be the ceiling for the chassis. If that coupe body fits it, and could be got as a package, of course that raises the price and makes the value of the chassis actually worth more than being "chassis-only". Not everyone in the world would have a legitimate use for a '46-'47 Hudson chassis, mind you. Can't speculate more without pictures!
