a couple of months ago i asked on this forum if any one has done business with these people who run a ad in the wtn.this was my experence/ a week after sending my parts with a note with all my contact info i called them. i was told package was there and the man who quotes the price opens boxes and gives quotes on weds. and fridays and he would call me. two more weeks pass,no call at all,no email,no word at all.today i call them. i sent 2 hood handles and 1 hood ornament from a 1952 ih pick up truck. the handles are about the same size as a 37 terraplane interior door handle and the ornament is nothing fancy. iwas quoted 386.00 each on the handles and 692.00 on the ornament. i told them no thanks please return my parts. does anyone have a place they use,

Ouch that really smarts. Been there.
These people are a pleasure to do business with, their work is exemplary, and prices are not out of line. Took them two weeks to redo a headlight bezel that a place in Houston screwed up.

I work with a place that does finished "show" Chrome with a triple plate process. I can work two ways. You can send me some good photos and I can give you a WAG at the price. Should give you a good idea of what it would cost.
Or you can send me the parts (I know how scary that can be). I will get an email back to you normally in one or two business days. The process takes two weeks to complete. I will check back with you as often as you like. I inspect every part during the process. Once you get the parts back (Keep in mind that this is after my inspection of the finish product) if there are problems with the work we will repair it until it is right.
Just a note on cost. We can repair and fix even really ratty pot metal. However, the more time it takes to make the repair the more it would cost. With this type of work, and where we provide "top quality show chrome" we would have a cost for (and we are a pay up front business-now that should really scare you) you before we started the work.
I do this for my cost--and since I run a business I do not charge tax. I do charge actual cost of shipping. I do not do a lot of this work so I am not in it for a business. I only offer this help to fellow Hudson folks....
One last point. If you would like, I will give you the name and address of the company I work with and the name of the President and you can work personally with him. By the way, he does not give discounts and he does charge tax. If I can help out let me know. Drop me a note at:

I hear the finishing touch does it high priced. Of course a lot of chrome is higher priced these days because not as many people do it and fewer seem to want to do pot metal. One thing though I've read in other old car publications is that you should photograph and inventory everything you send to any shop so that you get it all back and if they loose it you have a case for them to replace it (assuming it's not so rare a part it can't be.)0

Do as Aaron D, says, But I would like to add one more thing.
whether you send it UPS or FDX do all of the above, but make sure that you send it insured, and that you get a return receipt, or acceptance that they have it, and has been delivered. That way if they come up with "I don't know", or "we don't know where it is", you can always contact the countys Sheriff, and they will see that you get your parts back. I know this is extreme, but been there done that. I always send parts 3 Day Select.0 -

They did the rechroming of the bumpers, guards, and horse collar on my 1951 Commodore 8 cpe. and on a couple of the bumper guards of my 1950 Commodore 8 sedan. I consider it outstanding work. I understand they also do the chroming on the Victory motorcycles which have received the J.D. Power award for the best motorcycle chrome work. I have not seen their work on pot metal so cannot attest to that.0 -
i've had pot metal done. excellent work on that too. i have no affiliation..other than satisfied customer. regards, tom0

With the Finishing touch, A few years ago, I asked them to see what it cost to straighten two pieces on a 1950 middle door stainless. They were not great but were not rough either... they quoted me $550 for both. When I siad no thanks, they charged my CC double the cost of shipping and an $15 estimating charge. Wasn't happy about that.
I asked if they we Hudson fans? They said no...the only reason they join the club as I asked why , is for the cheap advertising.0 -

Well that sucks!0 -
I've had nothing but problems with finishing touch, especially in the communication department. Quality, not cost is our main objective and finishing touch took it upon themselves to 'save' us some money and did horrible detail work, L&R parts shaped differently, etc. Mark ignored phone calls and e-mails inquiring about the parts while they were in process and further ignored contact when I tried to review the problems.
The they billed our credit card nearly a thousand dollars for some other shops work and that took me a month to get straightened out.
Much later got an e-mail from secretary saying now that 2 employees are no longer with them Mark would like to do further business with us. Hmmm.

Sounds like a company with this kind of repoire needs to be removed from the classifieds with a simple thanks, but no thanks.0

Think my cost for those would run about $150-$200 for the pair:D
Better quality too.0 -

I'll agree to that! Anyone who charges for an estimate is a crook in my opinion.0
