Got kind of a dumb question........

Scratching my head a bit tonight. Ordered 2 blackwall 550/600x19 tires to replace the 2 that got torn up in transport; they were flat when loaded and unloaded.

The 2 that I just received are Firestone and were low cost for now and would become spares later. Need to get the car off the old tires before the rims are toast too.

I've got Lesters 6.00x19 on the car now and when the 2 good Lesters are set up against the new Firestone 550/600x19 the new ones are about 3-4 inches wider in diameter. This seems a bit out of the ordinary unless the tires will compress down with weight on them. Tags on the tire concur with the bill and my order so either I mis ordered or there's no issue.

I don't want to unwrap the new tires unless I'm sure just a weight on wheels missing.

\hanks

You will find variations in size and price between various brands. I used Lester 650.19's on the back of my '29 and Universal , same size, on he front. The Universal brand were considerably smaller in profile, and were only 4 ply rating whereas the Lesters were 8 ply. The Universal were a lot cheaper, and it is obvious why. So it's very much a matter of choice really, which pattern ply rating, and size you prefer. In general terms, you get what you pay for. Buy a cheap tyre, you will usually get an inferior product.
