Wire gauge info needed
My 30 Essex needs to be rewired in some places and I need to know what gauge wire to use for the various 6v circuits. I'm not necessary looking to restore to original specs and colors just get it all working. Is there any literature available on the circuits/gauges or can someone just tell me what size wire to get for 6v applications such as lighting, ignition, etc? Thanks.

The 6v cars had 16 ga. wire on the low-current circuits such as tallights, gauges, etc. I'd use 10 or 12 ga. wire from the generator to the ammeter or other main distribution point, and probably 14 ga. in the horn and headlight circuits.0

I would contact Rhode Island Wiring @ 401-789-1955. Helpful and knowledgable folks. They might even have a wiring diagram for you. They sent me one for the turn signal circuit for my 54 Special.0

While it doesn't give the wire gage specs, the 1930_essex_electrical_data sheets I have on the on-line Hudson library does give a pretty clear wiring diagram.
The site is http://hetclub.org/burr - click on the first 1930 link to open the file.
