Contact Jason at Albright's. He sells new cables and I've used them. Walt. The hood release cable on my '49 Hudson has broken. Any recommendations of were to find a new one?0 -
Just as a side note, I recall some sage advice that Bill Albright gave me once, and that was to add a second hood release in order to have a backup method to open the hood.
On my '49, I've added a linkage that consists of a simple piece of steel brake line with a loop formed on the end that passes through an eyebolt for support. The other end is attached to the pivoting mechanism that releases the hood. This all resides underneath the panel that supports the hood latch (can't remember what it's called). This way, from the front of the car I can reach up just inside the driver's side headlight with my right hand, and pull the loop to the right to open the hood. I suppose the only downside is the lack of security that a cable-only release gives you, but you can't see this linkage at all, and would have to know it's there. Plus I try not to park in bad neighborhoods when I can help it!0 -

The cable that Jason now sell will never break. It's 10 times heavier than the original. Has a chrome handle also. All that is required is to file the handle hole Round and cut to length.
