Glove box lock
The key to the glove box lock on my 50 Pacemaker works, allowing me to lock the glove, but the button itself doesn't. If the glove is unlocked, shouldn't I be able to just push on the button to pop the door open? Is there a spring in the mechanism I can replace, or do I need a new lock? Thanks.

sometimes you gotta push them in pretty hard. if it really is inlocked you might have to pry it open. It is possible the spring on the latch lock broke I suppose. Never really saw the point of the lock considering the glove box is made out of a sort of cardboard. hehe0

You might remove the whole button mechanism from the door and get it onto a table to carefully inspect it. I discovered that the button in my (1937) locker box, wasn't bottoming out, ergo the little latch bolt wasn't moving far enough to clear the keeper on the dashboard. I don't recall what was preventing it from working, but I eventually "reasoned it out" and got it to work again.0
