Thanks

Nuts!!!!!!! Now where did that starter come from??? That's one I don't have in the General Info Handbook. The 1952 parts book I have (on the Hudson on-line library) does list it. The 1948-49 parts book doesn't so that sort of narrows it down to the 50-52 years.
Anybody got any info on exactly what years this one was used, please post it here so I can bring the book up to date. Thank you.

48-54 lists it...MCH 6204 fits 1951,1952,4C,5C,7C,4D,5D,6D,7D0 -
Alex,
This is the number of the starter that is installed on the car. But I looked up the starter number in my 1948-52 Parts book and they also gave the MCH 6204 number. The application is as follows: All 1951-52 with Hydromatic or Automatic (Borg Warner?) 4C,5C,7C,4D,5D,6D,7D.0 -
Although many starters will fit and work some don't have the holes drilled and tapped on the top to mount the starter solenoid as used in the early stepdowns. I'm thinking just about any starter for a Hudson Automatic/Hydramatic should work in your car. I have Jet starter on a 54 308..Hydramatic..
Yes the so called "Automatic" was the B/W transmission. starters are the same. flywheels are different from Hydramatic.0 -

Oh, I don't disagree with you. My research dug up starter number MCH-6107 for 1951-1954 except Jet
But that's Hudson for you. Dig deep enough you can find all sorts of conflicting information. I just hadn't come across taht MCH 6204 number before - and that also isn't surprising. I've found many things over the years that either compliment, or contradict, earlier information I found here and there. It's just trying to sort it all out that gets frustrating. We do try to be as accurate as possible - but it's not possible, financially, for me to have a complete set of parts books or other Hudson literature. So we root around and go with whatever we have to hand hoping that, if it is incorrect, someone will come up with other information, like this.

Thank you Dave and Walt - one final question. Is that with hydramatic??
But thank you very much guys. We will figure a way to incorporate the info in the General Info Handbook which we are revising, again, with 1930-1939 Body Model Info.

Alex,
That is with ether the GM Hydromatic or the Borg Warner Automatic. I copy it exactly like it was in the parts book in my earlier post. Hope this helps.

Thank you - that's what I needed to confirm. Another change for the handbook.
