Ok...finally got the log on issue fixed, but it brings up another question.

Is it REALLY NECESSARY to have User Names and Passwords? And also what is with the het before an E mail address?

Why all the layers of protection? Has anyone EVER had any problems with Hackers and such.....

I think we should make it as easy as possible for ANYONE to access our wonderfull resources

Many of our club members are NOT Computer savy and all the extra hoops and barriers just make it that much more difficult for them.

P.S.

I AM VERY FOND OF A WELL PLACED GRRRRRRRR...

Tom - you present a good argument against passwords. Let me open a can of worms here with the other view.

I'm building an on-line library of Hudson material. I've had discussions with several people on the "club members access vs everybody access" issue. Maybe I'm just selfish, but the way I see it I put a lot of time and effort into putting together the info that's on that web site. I don't get paid for it (my satisfaction is in somebody telling me that they found something that helped them out). In my little quirky little mind I really think that if you want access to the material, then join the fun. This is a great club - but if you don't want to be a member then that's your choice. I've been here for 40 years and it's been worth every day and every dollar I've put into club dues.

At the moment access is open to all and anyone - when we finally get the web site built and attached to the HET club home page, then you'll need a password. If you don't want to join HET, then you'll just have to go dig out the material from wherever as I have done.

Local guy up the street has over a hundred cars and very few from the same company. Only has one Hudson. A 53 Hornet coupe. I gave him some references (yours and this site was one of them) and about a year later he has the car finished. A very nice car. Do not think he will ever join the club. I asked him once and he replied: "Can't join them all." Every once and a while he will drive into one of the local car shows in his Hudson. Great guy. There is also a gentleman around the corner from me that just went up into Idaho and bought a very nice 28 Essex Sedan. Sits next to his 30's Cad and Fords--oh ya, and the 24 Dodge. I asked him about the club and he simply said he was not a joiner. He stops by the house and we trade stories and every now and then we go for a Hot Dog. He just bought a set of wheels from a member of the Forum that by the way is not a member of the club. I say live and let live... I never ask if someone who is asking questions if they have a password or if they have paid dues. I just ask them about their Hudson.

I agree with you, this love of the car and body of knowledge should be available to everyone. Those who do not join our Club miss out on a lot of fun times with great people. My last two cars came from members and they were offered to me and never listed for sale. Somewhere there is a win-win.
