2010 Central Regional Meet Saturday pics

On Thurs evening at the Central Regional meet a guy named Brian Bennet(not sure of the spelling) brought his 1950 brougham with a 7X engine with headers and a Clifford head. Several attachments were mounted in front off his double grove crank shaft pulley. First time I have ever seen two water pump plates on the back of a water pump casting, he said it was to help alignment of pulleys.
When he drove in to the parking lot, lots of eyes watched(fantastic paint job) and ears pricked at the sound of the exhaust pipes. Sounded like a V8 with lots of power. And when he opened the hood, lots of people crowded around, and fired questions. Randy Maas adjusted his Twin H carbs. Hope someone post pictures, really nice work. Bob0 -

I spoke with Brian. He worked very hard to get his car to the meet. He and his wife are real nice folks. Congrats to Brian on his debut at the Central regional-2010. Also on Saturday was a beautiful '52 hornet sedan that was done real nice. It has a SBC but as I understand is only temporary until his 308 gets done?. I think Doug Seals was familiar with this restoration. I don't know the guys name,but another nice job!0

I am familiar with this '52 Hornet restoration. This was done by a friend of mine named Harland Hoveland. He's a great car guy, but just within the last few years has caught the Hudson bug. This restoration is stunning! Top to bottom, it's really done right. The really impressive thing about it is that it took him only 9-10 months! He does have a SBC in it temporarily until he completes his 308 rebuild. Doug0 -

Thanks Dave. Pictured in the car is Chi/mil chapter member Mark McClenathan. He was asking me "how too questions"man did he get an education-LOL Mark and Tim Lloyd's help where priceless in doing this "in the parking lot repair" of Rick Crawley's clutch.0

Vern Ellis and band members played for us on Friday evening. They are great entertainment. Something NOT pictures is the VERY LARGE hospitality room. This was a great meet to be remembered!0

That is the '50 with a 7X engine that Maas adjusted the Twin H carbs. Brian said the air cleaner base was from a Cobra Mustang, he had to have the top made. Really nice, sounds better. Bob0

The red 47 convertible with the hemi and hood up, another pic of the inside belong to Fred and Mary McCluskey of Florence, Alabama, MidSouth Chapter. The MidSouth had 5 couples attend, drove 3 Hudsons from Alabama 12+ hours, one from Tennessee, no breakdowns coming, had to replace one battery on return trip. Drove safely. Bob0

Yeah, that 47 convertible hemi-powered street rod was one fine machine. Fred actually scratch built the convertible top bows, and the door vent windows! It was a work of art. I asked him if he trailered it, and said that it's NEVER been on a trailer! Great guy, beautiful car. It was a great turnout, and along with the aforementioned Alabama crew, I talked to people from as far away as the UK.0
