Can't seem to be able to get front seat out of my '49 coupe. Does the front bench part come out before the rest. I looked up under seat, and could hardly get my hands in there to remove bolt's, Am I over looking something?? HELP!!

I have a 1950 Super 6 - Just lift up on the front of the front seat and it should come up.(sort of a pressure clip that holds it in place) you then can pull the seat (bottom) up & out and then you can get to the bolts to take out the rest of the seat.

It works that way on mine - good luck

Thanks for the tip!! I tried pulling on front of bench, but did not want to break something. I will give it another try.

If I remember you want to kind of push down and back on the leading edge of the seat and then it should pop out.

Here's a picture showing the bottom out and the tracks waiting to be removed...

Dont let the picture mislead you too much as it's really at about stage 2.5 from the steps outlined below plagerized directly from the Hudson Bible (thanks to Hudsonnut who pointed out most of the procedure earlier...)

Front Seat Cushion And Seat Back

    Removal

    1. Remove front seat cushion by raising the front of cushion slightly and pulling cushion up and out.

    2. Remove the four bolts attaching the bottom of front seat frame to seat track.

    3. Remove two screws attaching seat adjusting lever to seat frame and remove seat back from car.

    Installation

To install, reverse procedure of removal. (really, this is in the instructions!)
  • "Hudson Bible "? I obviously need one. What is it and where do I get it?

Michael, I believe the reference is to the HUDSON body manual which contains assembly and disassembly insturctions.

If anybody has one of these step-down body manuals that is not in good condition I would like to borrow it and scan it for the On-line library. I state condition because that is one of the thick ones that I would have to take apart and I don't really like taking apart manuals in good condition.

    Thank you.
