I have a Carter 2115 S that was on my car (1954 Wasp with Original 262

engine)..

I have been running a REBUILT CARTER 776 on the car for the past few years.

My question is this...Which of these Carbs is the correct one for MY specific engine or is there a difference. I have the 776 adjusted for best performance and I still show on the plugs that after very little use I am running rich on the mixture...

Plugs are a dark black and are dry

THANKS

TOM

The difference is in the metering rods. The 776s has a little richer jetting. 776s meter rods #75-754----2115s meter rods #75-732 These must be set correctly. Base number stamped on bottom should be #771 Walt.

Walt..thanks for the info, but I am still confused....Can I use either Carb on my 54 Wasp 262 engine. It had the 2115 on it when I bought it and I changed it to

    the 776.

I guess what I am trying to find out if I am using the right carb for my car

You better have a 2115s rebuilt and install it on your car. Plugs being black is a sign of a rich gas mixture. They should be light tan. Walt.

Looking back over the application chart, why did the carbs change for the Super Wasp for 53 to 54 (776S vs 2115S ) ?

OK, this listing info leads me to some questions about the Super Wasp applications-

1- is the carter wa-1 the single barrel dual carb applications for some and single carb application for others with non hornet (308) engines? If so, what # is the dual carb application # for the Super Wasp?

2- Why go from the 776S in 53 to the 2115S in 54 for the Super Wasp?

1954 Hornets-WGD 2 barrel-2115s----51-52-53-54 Hornets twins-968s or 2113s----52-53-54 Wasp and Super Wasp twins--990s or 2114s This is factory listing. With WGD 2 barrel you need 2115s Like I stated, 54 went a little leaner for more power. Walt.

    Walt,

I just looked at the carb on my 53 Super Wasp and it is a 776S and is supposed to be the original carb. I ordered a rebuild kit for it from Daytona parts company, they just finished the 37 Terraplane carb restoration. I will post pictures when it comes in.

OK, another person to ask a question.

I have a 308, S/N 185834 which I believe is from '52. I am running a 776S on it. I need to pull a plug to see how rich it may be running, but is this ok or should I be running a different carb?
