Moog centrepoint steering kit
This is a photo of a Moog centrepoint steering kit. Moog for those who don't know were (still are?) a large suspension parts manufacturer. There are a couple of obvious differences between the Moog approach and the Hudson approach to this item.
First thing of course is the substantial bronze bush rather than the pair of needle roller bearings.
Second thing is that the Moog pin is 3/8" longer than the original, increasing the bearing length by 20%. This effectively reduces the loads at the extremities of the bearing by 20%, and in a heavily loaded item such as the centre swivel, that can only be a good thing.
I think Moog could well have been on the right track here.
