I finally got the car on the road, now I find the brakes need fixin'. I hope someone on the forum has a junk Bendix TreadleVac Master cylinder with a non broken compensator valve. The one I am working on has the bottom portion of the pin missing. Brakes keep building up pressure until they lock up. email me or PM..Thanks hetdwad1939@att.net:)

  • superdave are you sure you don,t have a jet master cylinder they look the same but are a little shorter and if you put in a hornet rebuild kit it will not let it bleed off brake fluid . this happen to me with my 50 super 6 the owner I bought it from put the wrong one in

No, this is the correct one..it used to work ! The lower part is broken off the pin part of the valve, so won't make contact with the piston at all.:(

I had a similar problem with the stem length in a new kit. The valve stem was .030-.050" too short and would not actuate.

Nick. What did you end up doing to fix the pin problem? We are having a similar issue with our 58 Olds. Bob
