Brake Shoes ?

I have searched high and low but can not find brake shoes for my 41 Commodore 6 Sedan. Is it true that the shoes need to have the rivets and the asbestos linings to stop properly? When I look in my shop manual at the specs for the brake linings everything that I have found out there dosen't match up. Is there anyone out there who can direct me to the right place. Thanks.

I suggest Tim Cheney & Dave Kostanske 440-293-4079

They have a wide range of parts for Engine, Seals, Chassis, Ignition, Electrical, and Brakes. I have used them often myself, and been happy.

The HET Club magazine, WTN, also has a page for parts suppliers.

Take your existing shoes into a brake specialist and get bonded linings fitted to them. Far superior to the old fashioned rivetted ones.

Auto Zone lists shoes for your car. I just looked up your shoes online. Front PN 151 at $24.99

They list PN 31 for the rear but no availability.

Only difference I can think of Front to Rear is the hole for the emergency brake. Seems like they all should have the hole. Both are 1 3/4 x 10. What am I missing?

I agree with Geoff. Brake lining today are a bit softer than they used to be. Because of that I've seen many cars come into the shop with linings loose on rivited shoes. Bonded lining will give you more miles before they wear out.

    Have a good day. Lee.
