37 Hudson Front Suspension
Guys,
I am rebuilding the front and rear suspension on my Model 77 and I need to know what folks have done to replace the front stabilizer bushings?
Also the bushings that connect the front bars to the frame?
In addition I also need numbers for both the front and rear shocks.
Thanks for all the help. In the past it looks like the front stabilizer was replaced with a 40s version. It looks like this was done when they took a torch to lower the front end.

Is the front end still intact, after the 'torching"? If they've modified a lot of things, then maybe the correct type of bushings, shocks, etc. wouldn't fit anyway. Many people replace the front stabilizer bar with the 1939 version, which gives better control. The previous owners might have done this. The ends of the '39 bar attach to the backing plate, unlike the earlier version. Since it's a "bolt on" modification, you might want to consider continuing to use it (in the name of better control) because you can always bolt an authentic '37 one back on later, if you want to go original.0

The front end is still intact but the springs leave the front about an inch from the bumpers. I think they heated the springs a little to relax them. I have the 37 stabilizer and associated links which are in ok shape. Since it looks like an easy replacement I thought I would replace the bushings.

Jay,
If it were me I wouldnt replace the front bushings if their in okay shape after 63 yrs. Heating the spring leafs is an old race trick and if done right doesnt hurt leafs. I wouldnt reheat to bend back though.... front shock NAPA 20140
