Jet Brake Cylinders Rebuild
I am getting ready to do a brake job on my 53 Super Jet. I understand that replacement cylinders are not available for Jets, so I need to have them rebuilt, including re-sleaved. Does anyone have the name of a good source where I can send them to be re-done?
Also, I need the brake line hoses that go to the front wheels as well as the one that goes to the back axle. NAPA?
Hope my lines are ok,master cylinder already replaced.
thanks for any information

You can send them in to Hagen's Auto Parts and they'll put a stainless steel sleeve on them. They have the hoses you need and a bunch of other parts, too. I'd call them up before sending your stuff out, just to verify what to expect.0

Just got new cyls for the rear of a 56 Rambler wagon from the parts store, same brakes! These cyls are 7/8"0

Well, I found a part number for the rear wheel cylinders. This is a 15/16" bore.
NAPA 36029, Raybestos WC36029 and Wagner WC38926
For the front I have old EIS Automotive Corporation numbers that I cannot cross. EW-1S428 and EW-1S427
What size are the front wheel cylinders?0 -
I'm not sure what size the fronts are but they are larger - I will have to measure them. I'll try contacting Hagens - thanks for the help.0

The problem with the Jet brake cylinders is the pistons have a flat end, on which the shoes can locate up and down. All the replacement types I have found have a conical hole in the piston end, and the shoes will not be able to assume their correct pistion using these. The Brake shoes locate against a flat peg at the bottom, and have a flat surface at the top which rests against the flat of the piston, wiht a heavy spring connecting between the bottome of the two shoes. If you buy new cylinders complete, you will have to clean up the original pistons and use these instead of the hollow ones in the new assembly. Or else get your originals sleeved.0

You find all your answers for Jets at this website.
Look under Servicing and then Replacement Parts List under Brakes.
