I heard we had about 490 members and over 125 cars. The '35 Convertible won the Albright Award.

Yes, we have a new President. Aaron Cooper will lead us for the forseeable future and I might add a very good choice. The Doc award this year went to Walt Mordenti. Also a very good choice. Can not wait till next year. Since I have at liest one running Hudson I should be able to bring a car...... I hate being a "wannabe" at the Nationals..

I second those opinions, Brownie. Aaron is a real stand up guy. Had a nice visit with him at the Central Regional this summer. Mike Cherry has done a remarkable job during his tenure and will be missed.

I was HOPING Walt would get his name on the honorable Doc Daughtery award list one of these years. That IS well deserved. I can't think of a more passionate and knowledgable advocate for the marquee than Walt. Great news!

Kudos. Great Choice for the Doc Daughtery Award. Great Choice for our new leader. Sarah, sorry you didn't win the Albright Award. Looks like you had a 25% chance. Every newly restored Hudson deserves an award.
  • Wow Not many cars. Great choices for awards. Aaron Cooper is from my home chapter here in Iowa and i know he will do a great job as president alot of energy and a super nice guy. Chuck G

I have to agree great choices. Having worked with Aaron in recent months getting the on-line library to be a reality I know he will do an excellent job as our new President.

As for Walt - there's an award that was long, long overdue. I'm really glad to see him get chosen. He certainly deserves it.

Two memories from National that I will cherish:

Walt Mordenti, cheerfully answering ceaseless mechanical questions from everybody he ran into- often with reference to his book: "The solution to this is on page 39 of my book- you need to. . ." Every bit the "elder statesman", and rightly so- I'm so pleased he got the award.

And Bea Welzbacker, who, with her husband Steve, restored that Hudson Metropolitan in some ridiculous time period, like 25 days. She was dressed in "period perfect" clothing (something different every day- poodle skirts, etc.), a smile as big as all outdoors, and just cute as a bug in that little Metro.:D

Sure the Metropolitan is small... it was a hard top when he started though!

Steve is the guy who painted my 54 sedan. A beautiful job!
