OK, I have the car home now. I have rebuilt the brakes, changed the oil and cleaned the pan and did the gas tank thing. She is now running. I did a bit of cleaning of the heavy dust but here are the first photo's:
She has the three speed with the overdrive, radio delete, five new tires--none of the chrome is pitted--has all the hub caps and aftermarket beauty rings. I drove her just over 60 miles today and she ran great, smooth and oh yes, she passed inspection with only a new set of NOS wipers--and they work----well, as well as any Hudson wipers that I have had???

Looks like a really nice car, Brownie. . . . But it looks to be a 4 Dr. in response to your PM.0

What a great find, I think you will always be money ahead with this one!0

Great looking Stepdown, Brownie.0

Great looking 50C6. I'm glad to see the that the tail light & HUDSON emblems are the "correct " silver color(1950 only item). I don't know how many have told me that mine, on my 50C8, are incorrect.

wouahh.... the car is very nice: )0

Great car! And the interior is really beautiful, also the color combination. I like the look of the dashboard of the earlier stepdowns with the speedo and the clock in the middle of the car... :cool:0

Nice car ... I bet the next time you post that someone is willing to GIVE AWAY a car... you will have to get a stick to drive the takers from your door step!
Glad to see you are back STEPDOWNING!0 -

Tom,
I am glad that you mentioned that to me. I was preparing, in the next week or two, to tear it apart and paint it red as the many that I have seen. Happy to know that it is the way that it was built. Now, there is no plan to change it. Good tidbit of information..... Thanks again!!!!0 -

Brownie,
Those little tail light emblems and the trunk emblem on the 1950 Commodore and 1951 Commodore and Hornet models in reality were red when new. Exposure to the sun plays havoc with them. The same with the center grille emblem. The 1948 and 1949 Commodore tail light and grille emblems were black and less prone to have this problem. NOS red emblems are really tough to come by. Dee0 -
All of those I have seen have been black or red. But I always change the Hudson script on the trunk the body color of the car. I know it ain't original but I think it sets my car off from the rest. The only one I haven't done that way is my 54 hornet special sedan that I have for sale.

It is hard to tell from your picture, does it have the split rear window? I am deep into a total restoration of my '50C6 4 dr sedan. I bought it 10 years ago from the original owner and put 25,000 miles on it after only a brake job! It is a wonderful car. She is known as the, "Queen of the Road," although we call her Queenie for short. She is gold. I am installing the Pridemore disk brakes, rebuilt engine, '54 PS, AC and some other goodies. We are going to pull a '58 Deville "canned ham" travel trailer with her and do the National Parks. I have to finish, of course!0

Hudsonly Rudy and the locals0 -
Mighty fine car Brownie. Bet she's glad to get out and get some fresh air after sitting so long.0

Great looking Hudson!!!, but please move box on shelf hanging over edge so it doesn't fall and damage that beautifil car0

Did not see a "box on the shelf" in the photo's but none the less she has been moved to the out side shop because I have a small gas leak somewhere. When the tank is empty I will go through the system.
I can see that there is some question about the tail light emblem and the trunk emblem so I will simply state what I have and let you folks make up your own minds as to what is correct. The trunk emblem is silver on silver (I took it apart and checked it out. The small emblem above the tail light has a black background. Once again, I took it apart and checked it out. Right, wrong or whatever, that is what I have......
Took it on a shake down cruize last night. I drove up into Idaho and back. Just over 140 miles. Love the overdrive and it also seems like the clutch is doing better or I am learning how to drive it. It does not "chatter" as bad in first gear. I did get some Hudsonite clutch fluid last night so I can now drain and fill the fluid.
So much to do.......0 -
Very nice car. I love my 50, OD would help me on the highway though.
Thanks for posting the pics!0 -
I'm surprised. It looks really really nice! Especially for the price.
Congratulations.0 -
I also showed the fotos to my wife, she said: "Oh, what a pretty nice and sweet one with these blue/green colored dashboard, could we buy this one for me?" I said: "No, this one was for free" "...when will we pick it up?" She was a little disappointed as i told her, that it was not me, who got it for free... ;-)
But she told me, i should tell the new owner good luck with it, have always a good ride and take care of these "little white beauty"... ;-)0 -
Nice car, Brownie.0

OK, since it is the fall of the year I have decided to do a quick and dirty paint job on my front driveway. I started sanding out the car today and noticed that it was not French White (or anyother color of white) as an original color. Kind of a muddy grey is how it started out. I have decided to do the two-tone and with the darker blue as the main body color (hood, top sides and trunk.) I have checked the local paint shops and boy, they are not as helpful as they once were. All I hear is: "that paint is not matched in our computer." I checked a few of the on-line places that deal in the cars from the mid 50's and they will sell paint that they say is the correct color but do not give out the formulas (big bucks per gallon.) Anyone out there have paint mix formulas for the 50 white and darker blue that was used? I want to mix it myself so I can keep the cost down. Shooting for finished and on the road for under $500. Yes, I am cheap!!!!!0

Hello
My wife and I have also chosen two-tone blue
but we also have the problem to the references in france
We have found two blue but now doubt, lol
If you have pictures to help us with two blue tones?
I have found on the original advertising hudson, but nobody has already made this?
difficult choice... lol

Making up my mind would be the most help. As I have been sanding the car out I have changed my mind three times. I saw a 52 a short time back that was a deep red. We did a car for a friend that was cream and what I like to call root beer. And the blue/silver that I talked about before.
The main problem with paint matching is that our government keeps changing the laws on the types of solvents that can be used in paints. We did a car about a year ago in the "root beer" mentioned above and the only way I can match the color is take in a licence plate that I painted at the same time and hung it on the wall (I do this quite often just for fun). I took the root beer formula into the paint store yesterday and they said the base color solvents were no longer available. That car was painted six months ago. The way they keep messing with us, it is hard to do anything original.....
I should have the car ready to spray by the weekend so I will need to make up my mind by then. The last few cars I have painted I did a custom mix--about as close to original colors as my limited eye site could copy. I may end up doing the same with this one???0
