Transmission/Throttle Linkage and Parts Wanted

I've put aside my severely damaged 308 with the single carb and brought home a 308 with Twin H and a good hydramatic. My 54 Special has the BW automatic and to use the new engine with it I need the connecting linkage and the proper bellcrank that goes between the BW transmission and the twin H carb actuating rod.

My alternative is to install the hydramatic along with the engine (which would be preferable) but I would need all the parts required to do this, along with the proper actuating rods and bellcrank.

I've looked at Alex's manuals etc on his website and haven't been able to find any thing that would help me. Maybe I haven't been to the right place. My repro'd manuals haven't helped with the Twin H to BW automatic set-up

Any and all help, parts, pictures, sketches and dimensions will be greatly appreciated.

Thank you,

Bruce

I had a similar problem, got my Hornet mid-engine swap. Missing the pedal the bell-crank and transmission (hydramatic) links. I also got a mostly complete Twin H setup too, again missing items. I've tracked the missing parts down so I have everything I need. Give me a little bit and I'll sketch up the linkage parts since they're all still on my bench.

Forum member ski4life makes new Twin H linkage sets.
  • I am presently away from my manuals, so cannot send you the instruction sheet that lists the conversion of a BW equipped Hudson to a hydramatic.

Back at my office... send me a PM and include your email, I will reply with a copy of the promised information.

Cheers from the hot... HOT. :)

    Thanks Ken,

That looks like it would be the hydramatic bellcrank. I think I can figure out the small rod that goes to the long arm (outer) on the trans which controls the fluid pressure.

Would this bellcrank be the same for the BW trans? The carb (2 bbl) actuating rod for the BW has a spring that allows additional travel to move the trans lever (fluid press) into passing gear. Do you have any illustrations showing the hook up to the BW as this will be the quickest way to get back on the road while I collect parts to do the hydra conversion.

My e-mail is hetbrumac@peoplepc.com dropping the het of course. ( I hope this is what you mean by sending a PM)

    Thanks, Bruce
