1947 Cab Pickup Question #2
Hello,
Here is my second question regarding my 1947 Hudson Cab Pickup:
My truck currently has 15" wheels shod with Dayton P215/75R15 M+S Thoroughbred Steel Tires (except for the spare, which is a 16" wheel with a Goodyear 6.00-16 Nylon All Weather "42" tire).

I know the trucks came standard with 16 x 6.50 tires. Other than speedometer error, are there any issues with using the 15" wheels and tires? I plan to go to 16" wheels and tires (I have four bare 16" wheels), but the 15 inchers currently on the truck appear to be brand new.
Thank you, and take care,
Steve Bryson

It was not that long ago that you could not get 16" tires. I restored a Morgan Roadster in the late 90's and needed six of them. I had to wait for Coker to make a run of them and they would not make a run until they had paid-up orders for 25 tires. And, getting wide whitewalls at that time was not possible. With the SBR narrow whitewall introduced in the early 60's a lot of car got a fresh set of the new tires and then went to sleep in someones shop. I have had a few cars with this history. It is hard to fork out the big bucks when the tires on the car look bran new..... We will not go into the pitfalls of bad decisions?0

Better get a spare 15 in rim and put a radial on it. DON'T mix those bias and radials. The new rims sound like aftermarkets which should work OK with the radials.
I wouldn't use radials on original rims as they were'nt built for them. I know many people do, but every so often somebody blows a rim with them. Not good.
Fortunately, people like LUCAS, COKER, UNIVERSAL and others are making new 16 inch bias tires.0
