I see the vin number on the engine and on the passenger side A pillar, but where on the frame is the number located? Lee

On top of the frame on the back passenger side near the corner. You have to lift up the bed / body to see it.
  • It is also on rear end housing, right side just below tail pipe.

    Thanks Aaron and cargray.

No wonder I couldn't find the number, hiding under the bed. He He

When I get the bed off I'll check it out.

I wouldn't have thought to look on the rear end for a vin number.

Is there any other locations for a vin number?

So far everything seems original except the heater and the water pump (pump on the 6 is for and 8). I wouldn't have known that except a club member pointed it out to me. Who knows, it might cool better with an 8 water pump. ???

    Thanks for the information. Lee

My '39 has the VIN stamped on the side of the right front frame rail just behind the trailing edge of the tire. It is just in front of the hole in the frame for RHD. But I don't know if 47's were export models.

  • Open the hood from the passenger side and look down, just in front of the front body mount. The number should be stamped there also.:)

I sanded the passenger side top of the frame from the body to the horn bracket. I do not see a number there. It does have the export holes in the frame and body.

I did find the number on top of the rear end below the exhaust pipe. Almost missed it. The number was under the brake line.

At the right rear fram, is the number in front of the rear crossmember or the crossmember above the shakle?
