50 Hudson Engine

The engine in my 1950 Sedan does not seem to have any markings that tell me the size of the engine. How do I tell what it is?

See if engine no in front of exhaust manifold matches the no stamped on tag on right doorpost, if it does it's definitely the original engine. A Pacemaker will be a 232 and a Super or Commodore 6 will be a 2620

Thanks guys, The numbers do match and as I expected it is a 262. I just cannot figure out why Hudson did not mold the numbers on on block in 1950?0

I noticed in youe engine pic's that the ground strap is going to the cylinder head. It should go to the battery tray bracket first & then to the left engine mount stud. This will give a good engine & Chassis ground that is necessary. It is hard to tell, but is the battery hooked up for a positive ground ? It looks like the negative post it going to ground.
