Almost forgot to share these photos from an August event in Leavenworth, WA. This is the second annual orphan car show they've held and I believe plans are in the works to continue as they had a pretty good turnout.

Here are some pictures:

    Thanks for the pics.

Maybe the Poncho's can be called "orphans" is you stretch a point, but not a '51 Chev coupe, even if it is purple and yellow!

I never did learn the difference, even though I owned a couple of them back in the day. Still does not transform it into an "orphan", however.

I had a maroon "torpedo-back" '49 while in high school. In those days, it was customary to paint the local railroad tressle with your class numbers (66, in my case), and we used my rig for the job (crawled up the back to get the necessary elevation). In the process, we got several drips of white paint on the back of the car.

Dad and I were walking by the car several days later, and he pointed out the paint drips. I, of course, pretended to be clueless. He shrugged and said, "Kinda looks like tressle-paint to me" and walked in the house.

I have to admit I gave some thought to what other shenanigans I thought I had put over on the folks

I had a 1949 Chevy 2-door coupe I took into the Navy with me in 1955. I was stationed in Jacksonville, FL, and about a week before I was due to get married decided the car looked a tad shabby - so decided to take it over to the hobby shop and paint it. It was a sort of dull green - I painted it gloss black. Not a very good job but, it didn't look to bad.

Only problem was while we were having the wedding reception some nice people went out and using some sort of white marker put slogans all over the paint. Which really hadn't had time to set up. I had a h e l l of a time getting that white marker out of the paint!!!

Oh, well, the markings lasted longer than the marriage tho they did fade out after a while.
