Timing tips for Hudson newbies

Major milestone yesterday... I got the 308 running. And today, I got a few more bugs worked out. And it'll now run as long as I can keep fuel in the carb. Thats not to say it purrs like a kitten...
Anyway, now thats it running, I need a few tips on checking the timing since I'm used to my dizzies up top and my timing marks up front... Also, the vacuum source the distributor wants to see, is it manifold vacuum or timed port? I'm running a Rochester 4GC and I need to make sure the vacuum advance will still work right.
Thanks guys!

{Vacuum signal should be "ported". }
Sorry, dont understand, what does "ported" mean? Thanks, Bob0 -
The vacuum source is above the throttle plate, so that the vacuum signal increases as the throttle is opened. Edelbrock calls it 'timed port' on their carbs.0

Now she is running, you can have a great time giving her a squirt around the streets?

First, I gotta figure out a linkage for that Rochester 4GC. Then get the hydramatic adjusted and put the driveshaft back in. Soon as that's done though, we'll see how well them old tires'll handle running through the neighborhood. They've held the air i put in 'em when I got it out of Salt Lake City, that's a good sign! :rolleyes:
Oh, and brakes. Can't forget the brakes...0 -
