Question- painting underside of hood

In 1954, was the underside of the hood painted the same as the exterior or was it a flat black? The car I am restoring had been repainted and the underside of the hood was the same color as the exterior.

    Underside of hood should be same as exterior of hood to be authentic, exception might be if hood was replaced when car was fairly new, replacement crash parts came in a black prime coat and most body shops did not take the time to repaint the underside.

    Underside of hood should be body color, plus some had padding on the underside some did not. It is up to you which you choose.
