  • oh sorry : platinum alle is spatula and oil is wd 40

walt vous avez raison, j ai souleve doucement , mais sur toute la largeur de la baguette ; voila l erreur que j ai commise

    RP,

The problem was the spatula used to lift the molding was all the way across the retainer strip - so that it freed both sides at once. That is what caused the molding to bend. Kinda like opening an old fashioned sardine can with the key... it rolled it up. Walt-LA
  • Walter, I believe the French word for this moulding is' fubared'. We here in America have a similar word.

I've seen that stuff before when straightening Hudson trim, I can fix that rolled up piece, the 50-51 profile is not any easy find, it is easier to unroll though

HI Hudzilla, in Canada, the french word for "mouldings" would be "moulures".

You could go to any body-shop and they will understand you. How about it in France, Pierre? Would you guys understand the word "moulure" talking about cars? As for the word "fubared" I would be curious were you found that. Never heard it in french or english and tried to find it in the dictionnary too but with no chance at all. I love new words! It's fun to put it in a conversation and look at the reaction:confused:.

Oui Pierre, on pourrait dire aussi " moulures chromées" pour " chromed mouldings". Even if it's stainless they will often talk about chrome.

That's what I was thinking too.

You can also get the same result if you pry up one end of the moulding, and tie a rope around it. Tie the other end of the rope to a sturdy work bench in your garage. Then get in the car and accelerate out of the garage as quickly as possible. This will release the moulding from the car and give it that round shape your looking for. By the way, if that fits your fender I think I would work on getting it a little more straight before working on the moulding.;):D

HI Hudzilla, as I told you, I love new words and the reaction of other people hearing it. Finally got the "real meaning" of your new word. No wonder it's not in any dictionary. I'm sure I will use it someday. Thanks!:D
  • hello

super wasp, in French we take the word "moulding" especially for everything which is wood, antique furniture

je te dits en francais au cas ou mon anglais est mal exprime , si tu veut bien leur expliquer . Moulure en francais designe la forme de la baguette, le relief , mais il est surtout employer pour les objets en bois , tels que les meubles , anciens surtout

    voili voilou :)
