Looking for '34 Hudson center hood hinge

edited November -1 in HUDSON
I'm looking for the "C" sectioned hinge that runs down the center of a '34 Hudson coupe. It attaches at the cowl and radiator shell and the hood halves hinge on it. Does anyone know if replacement ones are available. I'm told they're similar in section to Mack truck hinges. Any help appreciated.

I'm not sure if this is still the current Mack number but it used to be #4QM12P23 when I last bought. It is 60" long. If there is an update to that PN, please post it here. Thanks.

I sent you a PM on this forum. I have one that I will sell you.
  • I'm looking for one also and the parts that attach it to the car. I check that part number on the Mack site and it came up blank. The shop that did the work on my car screwed my piece up. They made a hold down to attach the center piece to the car, and welded the hold downs to the hinge so I can-t remove the hood curtains. I'm finishing up the wiring on my coupe now and hope to have it running in a week or two.

    Be careful !

I tried a Mack truck hinge. The profile was wrong and it scratched the paint on the hood badly as I put it on. I went back to using the original after getting it rechromed.

The Mack hinge is now gathering cobwebs at the back of the garage.

Try the centre hood hinge from an early MG, they are a bit longer, just cut to suit but fit OK, used one on my '34 Hudson when I restored it.

Hi Huddy 42 - which MG was the hinge for ? If it fits a '34 Hudson OK, I'll get one to replace my rather ratty original. I live in England, so MG stuff is easy to get here.

This is a generic hinge from a rather expensive English parts supplier. See if he'll send you a short sample before you buy because it's essential that the end profile is right. Otherwise it won't fit or work properly - like the Mack hinge I tried.

I was at a car show yesterday and checked out the hinge on a MG TF, looks exactly like the one I fitted too my '34 Hudson, even the fittings on the attaching ends look the same. Check it out.
