new format ~ too scary?

Is the new format scaring people away? :unsure: I notice far fewer viewers than before. Many of us ald pharts can't deal with change of any kind. I don't "twitter", "text", or do FACEBOOK, and I seem to get along fine. I do have Onstar in my new truck and kind of like it. Maybe install it in the Hudson (if I ever get the engine back, one year and counting).

    Some of us were slower at finding the forum and accessing it. It took me a couple of days with help from forum members. It just wasn't a quick click and I was there. It has been a learning experience especially since I know very little about hunting on the computer. But with fellow members help I'm in. It is different. I really had to think. That was good for my weary brain, an old dude.

    Build the Forum and they will come.

    Initially, this new format frustrated me in that it took about an hour for me to figure out how to upload my so called "Avatar" ("Hey everybody, upload your "Avatar!" and you could win a prize!" Yeah, the only thing, what the hell is an "Avatar?!!"-well, I believe I know now- "Avatar", sounds like an investment company). Anyway, in the process of doing that I found out some other things that improve the overall website and even simplify it. My suggestion is to play with the new format accessing drop down menus that take you to, for example, "My Garage" and so forth. In the end, it really isn't that scary. Well, ok, a little, yes. But not too much. Remember, Halloween's coming up!

    Holloween coming up is funny.

    Change can be frustrating. We are redoing our kitchen ourselves. The cabinits are in and now it's frustrating because everything is in different drawers and shelves. Especially frustrating when I reach for the slide out cutting board we used to have and now we have none. Didn't realize how much we used it. We will adjust.

    This has nothing at all with the forum. Just thought of frustrating comparison.

    If I remember correctly back a few days, it seemed to me the forum traffic had slowed down from normal, but it seems busier now. There is something new to talk about. That's good.

    It's wonderful that someone has taken the time to create this forum and deserve a great big THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    You have to remember, the old format (and its programming) are several years old - ancient, in computer terms. The older a version is, the more susceptible to viruses and such it becomes. Generally, once something loses software support, it goes away. Change is inevitable; indeed mandatory, with computer software and the things it's able to run.

    Time marches on.

    I been around long enough to remember when we lost the forum completely when ClassicCar.com crashed - twice!!!!!
    At least one time came back in a slightly different format - took a little getting used to but in a few weeks everybody will be happily loading problems, solutions, pictures and more with abandon.

    Maybe I can adapt to the changes better than some of us old pharts - I been playing with this computer thingy, along with a lot of changes, since around 1990, 1991. I started with Windows 3.1 and went up from there over the years.

    I agree, tho - for us old pharts change ain't necessarily high on our want lists. My wife and I parted company - big change. But that don't mean I'm gonna go out and find me another to take her place. That's way, way to much change even for me. :silly:

    it may be that i was accustomed to the look of the old format but .... the old format seemed easier to move down the list or browse visually than this new format i will try keep an open mind . goo
